I’m doing standup again, after a long time.

I used to perform way back in 2009. Abish Mathew introduced me to it. My first open mic had Sanjay Rajoura. Zakir and I would be on the same open mic. I once tied for the top spot with a Gursimran Khamba.

But I was arrogant. I did not respect the medium. I would write a new bit for every show (comedians perfect bits over years). In my craziest bit I would dress up in saree and do the most perfect Lata Mangeshkar impersonation money could by.

One day, I left stand up. I wanted to focus on cartooning.

2014 was my last show.

In comics, I always felt that one of the biggest ways I emote is not used - my voice. how I say things. Comics and graphic novels has no audio. Also in India happens in English, I emote in Hindi. I was not able to tell my stories as well I wanted to.

That’s why earlier this year i started hitting open mics again.

And now this 18th April 2026 I am performing a full set with 2 other comedians. Its called MINORITY REPORT. Ravi is the co-founder of Blue Material, India’s first Dalit-led comedy collective. Falah is the creator of Musalman, a graphic novel about India’s first Muslim superhero.
